Seeing the Dead at the UKAS Conference

The Seeing the Dead project was represented at the UK Archaeological Sciences (UKAS) Conference in Bristol (30th March - 2nd April 2026) by post-doctoral research associates Dr Corrie Hyland and Dr Jennifer Wakefield.

Corrie's paper Lives Cast in Gypsum: Isotopic Insights into Identity, Mobility, and Diet in Roman Yorkshire was co-authored by Prof. Maureen Carroll and Prof. Michelle Alexander, and received a third place prize in the Early Career Researcher Oral Presentation category.

Jennifer's paper Insight into York’s Roman gypsum burials through multianalytical organic residue analysis was co-authored by Andrew Beeby, Maureen Carroll and Jackie Mosely.
